If your driver's license is European and you want to rent a motorcycle up to 125cc, just present your type B car driver's license for more than three years.

If you are not a European citizen you have to carry an equivalent license in your country of origin, in this case an international card is recommended.

All motorcycles have third party insurance and most include cases and rear trunk included or with additional payment.

In some towns the roads are narrow and made of cobblestones. Driving is on the right and the speed limit in towns and cities is 40-50 km/h and 90 km/h elsewhere. Helmet use is mandatory and driving under the influence of alcohol is a crime.

What tourist attractions in Madeira can I visit by motorcycle?

Traveling its routes by motorcycle will allow you to get to know the entire island and visit its most famous tourist attractions. Visit Funchal, the capital, visiting its fruit and vegetable markets, its green spaces such as the Palheiro gardens, the municipal garden or the Quinta da Boa Vista garden; and especially its streets: Via Santa Maria, where you can enjoy the Art of Open Doors. You can also climb the Mount, enjoy a magnificent view over the city and visit the Church of Our Lady of Mount.

In La Fajã dos Padres you will find a beach located at the foot of a cliff over 300 meters high, where you can eat at the only restaurant there is. Cabo Girão, is the highest promontory in Europe, with more than 580 meters high. At the top is the viewpoint of Cabo Girão. The island is rich in landscapes, panoramas and fantastic waterfalls, such as: Paúl da Serra, Ribeira da Janela, Porto Moniz or São Vicente; perfect for traveling and discovering by motorcycle.

In the city of Porto Moniz you can enjoy its natural pools and stroll through its more than 2,500 km of levada and moats that cross the island.
