Here are some tips for renting your motorcycle or scooter in Mauritius:

If your driving license is European and you want to rent a motorcycle up to 125cc, you just need to present your driving license for A o A1.

If you are not a European citizen, you must be in possession of an equivalent license in your country of origin, in this case an international license is recommended.

All motorcycles are covered by a civil liability insurance and most of them have a suitcase and a trunk included at an additional cost.

Upon arrival at our rental center, we ask you to present your documents and invite you to sign the rental document in your name.

What do I need to rent a motorcycle in Mauritius?

If your driving license is European and you wish to rent a motorcycle up to 125cc, you only need to present your B car driving license of more than three years old.

If you are not a European citizen, you must have an equivalent license in your country of origin, in which case an international license is recommended.

Are the motorcycles insured?

All motorcycles are covered by liability insurance and most of them have a case and a trunk included at an additional cost.

Upon signing the contract, we ask that a security deposit be charged to your credit card and returned at the end. It is essential that you have a credit card, we accept the usual Visa or MasterCard and, to a lesser extent, Amex.

What is it like to ride a motorcycle in Mauritius

Overall, the road infrastructure is in good condition. There are two types of roads: the highway and the secondary roads. The first one is divided into two sections, the North-South highway (from Grand Bay to the airport), and the Red Earth - Verdun highway, which bypasses Port Louis by the East and thus links Red Earth to Ebony. As for the secondary roads, they are those found in urban areas, and which also support the highway by linking the cities between them.

Mauritius is also lined with small roads. This is particularly the case in the villages and around the sugarcane fields. Taking these roads requires extra caution.

The speed limit is 30 to 50 km/h in built-up areas and on secondary roads. On the highway, it varies between 60 and 110 km/h depending on the zone.
